if you consider...
an ambient audio adventure
through Golden Gate Park

"It works. I mean I was absolutely willing to put my own impulses aside and follow Dalmas' string of associations. In the end it's Dalmas' eccentricities—his eschewing of authority and narrative continuity in favor of a personally inflected, patch-work construction of place that gives [the tour] it’s power."
- Shotgun Review

"It's really quite magical... as though you're being whispered a secret."
- fecalface.com

"Check out this guided audio tour and lose yourself for a few hours in the Jeremy Dalmas wonderland."
- UC Synapse

"I could not think of a better way to spend a sunny afternoon in the city."

What is it?
A unique way to experience Golden Gate Park, a strange way to spend an afternoon. This audio tour of Golden Gate Park begins at Fulton and Stanyan, just at the northeast tip of the park, and proceeds to weave its way down into the park's depths. You will be navigated by your guide down hillsides, through fields, into caves and across ravins while you hear the stories, encounter the creatures and discover the mysteries that haunt our fair park. Where is the feral cat colony? What is in those large green boxes? Who stole the stones from the spanish monastery? Can I eat that? Do people really assemble here at night? Why do I feel so unusual? What is that in the bushes? Are coincidences merely chance events? Or is it somehow all connected? Will I ever make it home? And will my home even be there to return to?

I heard about the tour from a website or an e-mail.
Is it just happening on Sunday, March 9th from 12-5?
Do I have to go to 2332 Fulton?
Explain!
Every two months I have a special day when I invite friends and strangers over to take the tour. I bake cookies, brew tea, curate games and meet + talk with people at my house at 2332 Fulton before and after the tour. It is a little afternoon party. It is also a fun way to take the tour, to meet people who you share the park with, and to have a pleasant Sunday afternoon. You can either download the tour before you come and put it on your own CD player/MP3 player, or you can borrow one of my dozens of walkmen and discmen. You don't have to stop by, but we would love to talk with you! You can start the tour anytime you want and you take it by yourself or with your friends. It takes about 90 minutes and I recommend starting early because the sun will inevitably set when you are in a spookiest part of the park.

If you can't make it on this specific day, don't worry. The tour may be taken any day, anytime day or night (although it would be quite weird and scary at night, but maybe you are into that!), and any time of year. Each season brings its own special timbre to the audio tour.

Look below for details on acquiring the tour.

Where does it start? How do I take it?
The tour begins at the southwest corner of the intersection of Fulton and Stanyan, at the entrance to Golden Gate Park. Once you have acquired a copy using one of the methods below, just load it into an MP3 player or a discman with good batteries, go to Fulton and Stanyan, and press play. Give yourself a least an hour and a half to complete the tour. Either before or after the tour, we recommend that you stop by 2332 Fulton (which is just west of the intersection where the tour commences) to exchange questions and curiosities. Ask for Jeremy. Refreshments will be provided!

How do I acquire the tour?
We kindly request a $5-$10 donation for the tour if you can afford it. To acquire it you can:

1) Purchase it from Lulu.com and download it to your computer to put on your iPod or to burn onto a CD for you diskman. Click here to purchase and download from Lulu.com!

2) If you would prefer, you can rent a diskman or tape player where the tour begins. Or we can send you a CD or tape by snail mail. Mail us to make arrangements!

3) We want everyone to be able to take the tour! If money is a barrier, mail us and we will work something out. Think of something you can trade...
